Lisbon's first syrian restaurant welcomes refugees

Mezze opened its doors to the Portuguese public in September 2017 and quickly became one of Lisbon’s most popular restaurants, offering Syrian cuisine cooked by refugees.
The concept behind Mezze was to match newcomer’s skills with long-term employment, whilst providing workshops and discussion groups. Syrian refugees run Mezze restaurant after 23,000€ was raised to renovate a former butcher's shop on a market in the Portuguese capital's popular Arroios neighborhood.
Mezze will build on its success soon by launching a catering service and also has plans to open in the second city, Oporto.
